I remember when airplanes were adventure
Dressed in our best, we went to Florida to visit Grammy
Traipsing through airports, chatting with smiling ticket agents.
Friends and family walked us to the gate
They waved through windows as our plane taxied to the runway.
Now we check in with faceless machines
Show official ID’s twice, remove shoes and clothing
Scan baggage and bodies.
Please, no jokes – this is serious business!
We arrive at the gate alone, searching for the sole electric outlet
Sit on the floor and enter electronic cocoons
Waiting for boarding
Aaah, I too miss the days when we dressed for adventure! Good poem 😉
